So Far
OFFprojects @ The Grey Space In The Middle
20-23 December
As the year comes to an end, artist collective OFFprojects brings us So Far.
So Far is part retrospective, part experimental space and part social gathering.
A four-day event that combines an exhibition with a performance program.
The ongoing exhibition will include a collection of OFFprojects’ photo, video and installation work. During So Far they will also interact with the work of like minded artists Gosse de Kort and Leo Scarin.
The changing evening programs will consist of performances, research demonstrations and live music, with every evening a different theme.
The exhibition continues to run on all the other days from 17:00-20:00. Entrance to the exhibition is free.
Wednesday 20/12 20:00-22:00
So Far #1 – an opening
Join dancer-collective OFFprojects for the opening of their first ever exhibition. Video pieces and photography are presented in the dynamic architecture of Gosse de Kort’s kinetic installations. Among older projects one can see the premiere of OFFprojects’ latest video work Dog Cloud, as well as a new one-on-one performance featuring dancer Xanthe van Opstal.
Note: The exhibition continues to run on all the other days from 17:00-20:00. Entrance to the exhibition is free.
Thursday 21/12 20:30-21:30
So Far #2 – the body as interface
OFFprojects hosts the lecture-performance Running Backwards by artist and creative coder Leo Scarin. The lecture explores hacking of movement in systems of digital surveillance. The presentation is performed through a pose-to-text system Leo developed as an experiment for OFFprojects. The outcome of the experiment, tested and studied in collaboration with dancer Milena Twiehaus, will be presented during the lecture.
Also in the program is the performance Monotone by Gosse de Kort, a live theremin competition that challenges the relationship between physical movement, non virtuosity and endurance.
Friday 22/12 20:30-21:30
So Far #3 – organised chaos
Explore the line between intuition and composition, freedom and responsibility. This evening OFFprojects will present a ‘highly structured improvisation’. It promises to be an intricate, intimate and enjoyable exploration of movement, sound and live communication. Prior to the performance the group will share the fundamentals of their improvisation method, offering the audience handles on how to approach the experience.
Saturday 23/12 20:30-21:30
So Far #4 – songs and silences
To close off the four-day event, OFFprojects will perform excerpts of their recent piece Songs And Silences; a series of dance solos, poems and songs. This already intimate work will be stripped down to its bare essentials, performed in the raw, non-theatrical setting of the Grey Space In The Middle.
