OFFsessions #13 – moving in frames
Sat 22/09 @Korzo The Hague

What happens to movement when it’s limited to a two dimensional frame? We see this every day on our devices but what are the choreographic implications? In this first session of the new season we don’t just discuss it, we do it.

During the session itself we will be filming footage with our dancers for an upcoming video installation. As we are filming we will take you through the thought process of what we are looking for, how we are looking at it and what the considerations are.

Join us where we work for this special, delicate moment. We look forward to having you and hearing your reflections.

Join us for movements, words and sounds (and snacks).

OFFsessions #12 – moving words
Sat 27/06 @Korzo The Hague

sharing something brand new for the last session of the season

As an eventful and interesting dance season draws to an end, our curiosity returns to an old love… Exploring the relationship between dance, music and poetry. Combining text and movement can be tricky – movement usually resists the explicit nature of words. But when expressed in the form of poetry, the implicit meaning of language is allowed to resurface and the connection to dance becomes natural.

In this session we will go further into this topic. We will also be showing a first draft of a solo that Amos is creating with one of OFFprojects’ dancers Annakha Flos. This new short work draws from a brand new song that Amos recently wrote, and that he will be playing live for the first time during the session.

Join us for movements, words and sounds (and snacks).

Storm – on tour

Storm – on tour

Thank you to all who joined us at Amare for the world premiere of Storm. We look back at a great night, where we celebrated in harmony, chaos, energy and full force. It was so rewarding to see how all the elements of this unique project came together; the dancers’ generosity, the power of the jazz orchestra (JOC) and Shabaka’s beautiful score. Sharing it with a such a big, enthusiastic audience was the cherry on top.

Our next stop, Grote Kerk Veere on Friday June 5. We can’t wait to share Storm with you at this beautiful venue! After Veere, we continue our Dutch tour in the fall. From Maastricht, Tilburg, Almere, Breda, Heerlen to Amsterdam. Catch us along the way!

Four Luca

Four Luca

Back in November, during OFFsessions #9, Amos and Luca created a new short solo titled Four Luca. We’re happy to share that Luca will perform his solo at the open air theater in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark on Friday June 26. In this short piece Luca and Amos explore how people’s lives evolve in cycles. We move through life. We return to the same starting points. We repeat. But nothing stays the same. One of Amos’ songs forms the backdrop to Luca’s journey.

OFFsessions #9 – Luca

Join us where we work! This time the theme is a person: Luca. Luca Cacitti has been a performer with OFFprojects for many years, and over such a long collaboration a special bond is created.

Over the last couple of days Amos has been creating a new short solo with and for Luca, one that encompasses many of the experiences we shared over the years.  During OFFsessions #9 we will present this new mini-creation to you and also break down how it was done and why. We’ll also share some of the ideas behind it for those who are interested in trying it out for yourself.

OFFsessions#7 coming up
Sat 21/06 @korzotheater

This session is a special one for a few reason.
It’s part of Just Peace Festival and it’s the last session of the season.

We will be examining the human need for systems. As people we constantly fluctuate between our desire for individuality and freedom and our need for strict social structures. We will look at the interplay between these opposing dynamics through the lens of choreography and movement. Amos and the dancers will share insights from their own practice as well as invite the audience to question, experience and reflect.
